Who can attend

Open to violists of all ages and levels. We welcome students majoring in viola who are interested in participating in the Tamba Sasayama International Viola Masterclass in the future, as well as professional violists.

Masterclass Details

・Each participant will receive two lessons from one assigned professor during the course.

・On the first day, all participants will perform a short piece (approximately 3 minutes), after which the professors will assign students to their classes.

・Lessons for the two classes will begin immediately afterward and run in parallel.

・Participants are expected to attend as many other lessons as possible in addition to their own. Observing lessons is considered an essential part of the learning experience, so please balance your practice time accordingly.

* Lessons will be conducted in English. Interpretation will generally not be provided.

Please prepare one piece or a movement from a solo work or a work with piano accompaniment.

Recommendations

・Participants are strongly encouraged to attend the Tamba Sasayama International Viola Masterclass prior to the seminar if possible.

・We also recommend attending Masterclass Concerts I & II, as well as the Faculty Concert on September 6. Through these experiences, participants will gain inspiration by listening to a wide range of viola performances, which will support their future musical development and goal setting.

Application Fee

JPY 40,000 (to be paid by September 1, 2026)

Cancellations made on or after September 2 will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
